2014 Hill Day and Rally for Medical Research
Federal funding for medical research is in jeopardy, threatening the health of all Americans, but especially those with chronic conditions like hydrocephalus. On September 18th, the Hydrocephalus Association will be partnering with Research!America as part of Hydrocephalus Awareness Month to bring together hydrocephalus patients and family members, along with thousands of other patient advocates, to meet with House and Senate offices on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. as well as in local District Offices all around the country. Our goals include:
- Urging Congress to make funding for the hydrocephalus research a national priority for the federal government.
- Raising awareness about the challenges of living with hydrocephalus.
- Spur progress, inspire hope and save more lives with increased investment in medical research by NIH.
Participants will be meeting with Senators and Representatives from their home state and district. Participants should plan to be available for these meetings on Thursday, September 18th from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm EDT. Unless otherwise requested, participants will be placed into groups reflecting the spectrum of medical research stakeholders (researchers, patients and family members, clinicians, and other patient advocates) and grouped according to state.
Participants will receive their meeting schedule the day before the meetings (September 17th), unless you request to receive it earlier.
