Let’s Make Some Noise for Hydrocephalus Awareness Month!

September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month (HAM), our chance to shine a light on hydrocephalus and how it impacts our community! Help us make a big impact by posting about HAM on social media so we can raise awareness about the leading cause of brain surgery in children.

Here’s What You Can Do:

  • Post one of our #HAM2021 social media graphics or post a selfie holding one of our printable signs on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter! Use our #HAM2021 hashtag.

Example: Did you know that #hydrocephalus is the leading cause of brain surgery in children? September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. Learn more about this condition at
    www.hydroassoc.org #HAM2021

  • Post a short video on social media saying something you’re proud of accomplishing, using the hashtags #HydroStrong and #HAM2021
Example:  I have #hydrocephalus but hydrocephalus doesn’t have me. This year I graduated from college! September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. Join me as I raise awareness about this condition! #HydroStrong #HAM2021
  • Post a selfie on social media explaining who you’re walking for this year, using the hashtag #HAM2021 and #HAWALK
Example:  My daughter has had 22 brain surgeries to treat her #hydrocephalus. That’s why on Sept. 25 I’m participating in the Louisville WALK to End Hydrocephalus! We need more treatment options and a cure! #HAM2021 #HAWALK
  • Ask your members of Congress to join the Congressional Hydrocephalus Caucus! The caucus plays a critical role in crafting policies that result in better treatments and, potentially, a cure. Ask your representatives to join today in just three easy steps:
Step 1- Find out who represents you at https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/map
Step 2 - Go to www.tweetcongress.org and search for their twitter feed
    Step 3 -
    Tweet the following message:
@[handle], Congressional policy decisions impact those with #hydrocephalus every day. Please join the #hydrocephaluscaucus chaired by @RepLloydDoggett and Representative Chris Smith to learn more about this devastating condition.
