Spring has dawned upon a bi-coastal Hydrocephalus Association and I’m thrilled with all that we have going on across the country. We have added several key staff to our roster and now the search has begun in earnest to find our new offices. It’s an exciting period of growth for us.
Spring also heralds WALK season! We anticipate holding 30 this year, all across the country. And there’s Sharkfest, our popular swim from Alcatraz to shore in the San Francisco Bay! Each year our events grow and improve thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our Chairs and support group members.
We also are launching another round of research grants. Applications are up from last year, signaling that the word is getting out that HA is an important funder of research for mentored young investigators. Meantime, our first round of grantees are into their second year of research. They will be speaking at our conference next month.
Speaking of the conference, have you registered? The Conference will be held this year from June 17-21 in Cleveland, Ohio, with our partner, the Cleveland Clinic. Among the exciting programs and events we have planned this year are a live shunt surgery and a parade that will give us a chance to show our commitment and raise awareness of hydrocephalus. And if you’re a member of a support group, please do not miss our programs designed specifically for you. We are committed to providing more and better assistance to those of you who volunteer so much time to helping the hydrocephalus community.
Yes, we’re busy and I’m excited about the great work on the horizon!
