STUDY TITLE: Modulation of Choroid Plexus TLR4 function in Postinfectious Hydrocephalus
Dr. Kristopher T. Kahle, is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics and Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University School of Medicine, and Director of Neonatal and Congenital Anomaly Neurosurgery in the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the Yale School of Medicine under the mentorship of Richard Lifton, and neurosurgical residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital. After residency, Dr. Kahle completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and was Instructor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kahle completed a postdoctoral research fellowship with Stephen Elledge and David Clapham at Harvard University.
This study, “Modulation of Choroid Plexus TLR4 function in Postinfectious Hydrocephalus,” will determine the role of the choroid plexus in the development of PIH. Preliminary data suggests that the choroid plexus produces excessive CSF in response to a brain infection. The goal of this study is to identify drug targets that can be used to decrease this over production of CSF and prevent the development in PIH in an animal model.
