Hugh Allen is EVP and US Head of Commercial Real Estate for TD Bank. Allen is a 30-year veteran of the banking industry and has been with TD Bank since 2014. Prior to his EVP appointment Allen served as Regional President, Metro Mid-South for TD Bank, AMCB, overseeing commercial, small business and retail banking in TD’s footprint from the Carolinas to Delaware.

Hugh began his career in 1986 in Houston, TX with Coldwell Banker. His banking career began in 1989 with PNC Bank, leading him to his first commercial real estate lending post in Washington, DC. In 1996, he left PNC to manage First Union’s Tyson’s Corner Commercial Real Estate office covering the Greater Washington, D.C. area. In 1999, he moved to Raleigh, NC to serve as a regional president for First Union, responsible for general banking activities in Eastern North Carolina. He rejoined Commercial Real Estate in 2001 after the First Union/Wachovia merger, and eventually became managing director in charge of Mid-Atlantic Commercial Real Estate in 2006. Hugh continued in a similar capacity after Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia. Hugh joined TD Bank as a CRE Regional Director in 2014 and assumed his current role in 2018.
A Texas native, Hugh earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas and his MBA at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

He is a member of such professional organizations as Urban Land Institute, The Real Estate Roundtable, International Council of Shopping Centers, Mortgage Bankers Association and was a founder of African American Real Estate Professionals (Washington, DC). Additionally, Hugh is Past Chairman of the Trustee Board at St. Augustine’s College, and currently serves on the board of directors for The Hydrocephalus Association, The Research Triangle Foundation, The Steve Smith Family Foundation and The Arts Empowerment Project. He is also Co-Founder of BP Basketball, Inc., a Charlotte based non-profit dedicated to mentoring youth through basketball. He is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Duke University Fuqua School of Business Keller Society and The Iron Dukes.

Hugh, his wife Natalie, and their two children, Andrew and Chloe, live in Charlotte, N.C.
