Mike Schwab

Vice Chair

Michael Schwab
LifeWorks Northwest
Portland, Oregon

Board Member Since 2009

Prior to entering the employee benefits industry and joining BCI Group in January 2012, Mike had spent the previous 17 years of his career in the field of philanthropy. Most recently, Mike was the Vice President of Development for Jesuit High School in Portland. He began his fundraising career at the University of Portland and has also held positions at Catholic Charities, the Providence Child Center Foundation, Saint Xavier University, and Notre Dame High School.

Schwab and his wife Tara hosted a special HA fundraising event in Portland, Oregon in 2013. He and Tara continue to help raise awareness and support for HA and the Portland Walk through Mike’s role on the HA Board and Tara’s job as a pediatrician. He also chairs the HA Development Committee.

While living in Chicago, their two-year old son Joe was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and shunted in December 2003. Since then he has had two revisions, but continues to do well in the classroom and on the fields/courts. He is their inspiration for helping others with this condition.

Schwab has extensive experience building relationships with benefactors, volunteers, alumni, corporations, and foundations and is extremely involved in his community, serving as a member of the Providence Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, St. John Fisher School Advisory Committee, St. John Fisher Parish Finance Committee, Grotto Advisory Board, and a head baseball coach in the Raleigh Hills Little League program. His favorite activity though is spending time with Tara, their three kids (Joe, Anna and Sam), and labradoodle (Lily).
