Dear [name of staff person]
My name is [your name] and I live in [name of Representative or Senator]’s state/district. I am writing today to ask for a meeting with you to discuss the work being done in Congress, as well as in our community, to help those with Hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is condition that causes abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. Currently, the only treatment is brain surgery.
I’d like to talk with you about how this impacts patients, care-givers and family members in our community, and how the federal government can serve as a better partner with us to address this condition.
I am available [date(s) you are available]. In addition, I understand the Congressman / Senator will be working in the district that week. I’d welcome the opportunity to meet with him or her as well.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hope we can get something arranged.
