Kristopher Kahle, MD, PhD

2017 Innovator Award Recipient

TITLE:  Associate Professor, Yale School of Medicine

GOAL:  Understand the role of the Choroid Plexus Epithelium (CPE) in postinfectious hydrocephalus.

Overview:

Dr. Kristopher Kahle is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, and Cellular & Molecular Physiology at the Yale School of Medicine. The research of Dr. Kahle is focused on the molecular mechanisms of damage to the choroid plexus. The choroid plexus is responsible for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) production in the ventricles. In his study, Innate immunity and CSF production in postinfectious hydrocephalus, Dr. Kahle will evaluate how infection impacts choroid plexus CSF production. He is testing a new theory for why postinfectious hydrocephalus develops which could lead to new therapeutic targets.
