Jennifer Strahle, MD

2016 Innovator Award Recipient

TITLE:  Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery, Washington University

GOAL:  Early intervention for intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH).

Overview:

Dr. Jennifer Strahle is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at Washington University. The research of Dr. Strahle is focused on the ways in which IVH can lead to hydrocephalus. In her study, Iron-mediated ventricular injury in post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, Dr. Strahle will determine how iron gets into and damages the cells lining the ventricles and how this contributes to the development hydrocephalus. By understanding how iron gets into the cells, researchers can develop specific drugs to stop the process and keep our brain cells healthy. This award was made possible through the generous support of Team Hydro.
