Project title: Effectiveness of Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy for Cognitive and Gait Improvement in Adult Congenital Hydrocephalus: A Cohort Study and Systematic Review
Dr Catherine Veilleux is a neurosurgery resident in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Canada. Her project aimed to assess cognitive and gait outcomes following endoscopic third ventriculostomy using standardized, validated assessment tools in patients with chronic obstructive hydrocephalus. Her results showed clinically meaningful improvement in cognitive and gait outcomes as early as 3 months postoperatively, which were sustained at 1 year. She hopes her study provided a reproducible framework featuring objective, validated tools that other centers can use to facilitate future multicenter comparisons.
