Project Title: Headaches and Hydrocephalus: The Patient Experience

Headaches are a fact of life for many living with hydrocephalus. Patients may experience them chronically, but headaches can also be a warning for revisions. This may lead to anxiety in whether a headache is truly just a headache, or if a patient needs brain surgery. My research aims to find connections between headaches, hydrocephalus, and anxiety in adults with hydrocephalus. This work highlights factors that contribute to headaches such as stress and sleep that can directly be impacted by the patient to help determine whether a headache is hydrocephalus related. This data also is the first of its kind to ask about hydrocephalus-specific anxiety, which will inform patient care and resources following diagnosis and revisions.
