Make Waves for Hydrocephalus is a new initiative which allows HA supporters to devise their own methods of raising money for HA and its mission.
There are endless ways that your Make Waves for Hydrocephalus fundraiser can raise funds to support hydrocephalus. From auctions, to parties, to dinners and much more. Your fundraiser doesn’t have to be large to make a huge profit. The following are just a few ideas of ways to get your WAVE started.
- Dance Marathon – Hold a dance marathon in the cafeteria or gymnasium. Each couple or individual will pay an entry fee to get into the event. Couples get eliminated one-by-one when they cannot dance any longer. Organizers holding the fundraiser can bake goods and get donated drinks to sell during the dance marathon and local bands could also be invited to the event. They can alternate playing and pay a small entry fee to get their band heard during the night
- Pet Costume Parade – A great way to raise money and have fun at the same time is to stage a pet parade event. Hold this event in a pet-friendly venue, such as a park, and invite students and their friends and family to participate. Make it a costume parade and award prizes for prettiest, most creative, silliest, etc. Entrants pay a fee to enter their pet and viewers can be asked for a donation. Use part of the proceeds to put together pet “goodie bags” for those entering their pets.
- Chili Cook-Off – Every family has their own secret chili recipe. Hold a Chili Cook-off. People pay a minimal entry fee to enter their chili. Patrons are charged a small fee and receive 3 sampling cups (which holds 1/4 – 1/3 cup of chili.) Participants go from chili cook to chili cook sampling and vote for their favorites. Give prizes. Categories can include Chili with Beans, Chili without Beans, Vegetarian Chili, etc. Have entrants bring the chili in a crockpot to keep it warm.
- Bowling Nights – Plan a fun night of bowling at your local lanes. Ask the owner to waive the cost of bowling so you can collect the “fee” for HA programs and research. When’s the last time you went bowling? It’s a great night – and how many other opportunities do you have to wear someone else’s shoes?
