The mission of the Hydrocephalus Association is to find a cure for hydrocephalus and improve the lives of those impacted by the condition.
We will accomplish this by collaborating with patients, caregivers, researchers and industry, raising awareness, and funding innovative, high-impact research to prevent, treat and ultimately cure hydrocephalus.
Our vision is a world without hydrocephalus.
INTEGRITY. The Hydrocephalus Association acts consistently with its mission, being honest and transparent in what we do and say, and accepts responsibility for our collective and individual actions. This value is demonstrated in behavior that exhibits commitment to high professional standards and promotes ethical behavior among all individuals involved in the work of the association.
EXCELLENCE. The Hydrocephalus Association is committed to a strong ethic of timely, reliable service to constituents and to an unwavering desire to conduct the highest quality programs. We strive to create an environment where patients, family caregivers, medical practitioners, scientists, and all those affected by hydrocephalus feel heard, safe, respected, and supported. This value is exhibited by constantly challenging ourselves to the highest levels of learning and performance against demonstrable benchmarks in order to achieve greater impact.
EFFECTIVENESS. The Hydrocephalus Association focuses on high-impact pursuits that have a direct impact on the lives of those we serve. This value is displayed through the thoughtful establishment of priorities for the use of resources and the use of evaluation processes centered on the impact to patients for all programs and services.
COLLABORATION. No individual is as smart or effective as a group of individuals. The same is true for organizations. The Hydrocephalous Association believes it is critical to sustain a strong sense of community among those affected by hydrocephalus. We also believe that we can be much more effective when we collaborate with respected partners outside of our organization in order to make the best use of limited resources. This value is evidenced by a maintaining a culture that embraces all those affected by hydrocephalus. It is also demonstrated by strong teamwork among volunteers and staff, and by actively pursuing opportunities to work cooperatively and in partnership with other organizations.
OPTIMISM. The Hydrocephalus Association believes that we can be a catalyst for a better future through innovation and an optimistic approach. The sense of hope that accompanies this belief leads to creative approaches in our endeavors and that of the medical and scientific communities with which we work. This value is evidenced in a culture that recognizes and celebrates diversity of thinking and perspectives, acceptance of reasonable risk, and appreciation for the learning that comes from valuable failures.
