Adult HydrocephalusDuring the month of October join the Hydrocephalus Association in the Adult Hydrocephalus Challenge – #AHC and you can DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT!

Donate now through October 31st, and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor who will give up to $100,000 to further research into adult hydrocephalus.

All money raised through #AHC will help the Adult Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (AHCRN) reach its ultimate goal of preventing and curing hydrocephalus and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.

The Adult Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (AHCRN) is the first research network dedicated solely to adult forms of hydrocephalus, representing transitional patients who were diagnosed as children, those who acquire hydrocephalus as adults, and patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus. AHCRN currently consists of six clinical centers and one central data coordinating center. The clinical centers have established themselves in the expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of all forms of adult hydrocephalus. The patients seen within clinical centers of the AHCRN provide a rich knowledge base for investigators to understand the variability, progression, and current treatment practices for hydrocephalus in adults. This knowledge informs the research taking place within the AHCRN.

The work of the AHCRN is exciting! The major projects include a Core Data Project, an Image Database, and a Cerebrospinal Fluid Biobank. In addition, AHCRN has the following projects planned:

  • Understanding the natural history and treatment response for adults with previously untreated
    congenital hydrocephalus.
  • Evaluating current practices of assessment and treatment of patients with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).
  • Reducing complications associated with shunt surgery.
  • Determining the epidemiology and role for treatment with Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV).

Your gift to support research into adult hydrocephalus will make these studies possible! And now your gift counts twice as much – and means twice as much!

Join the Adult Hydrocephalus Challenge and send your gift today.
